    py-tkinter

Thanks crsd but I'd prefer to learn whatever it is I do not know over just installing the port by any means necessary. Something is obviously wrong and I'd like to know what it is and how it became that way and hopefully how to correct it and how to prevent it in the future... Looks like I get...

This is what I get when I do a portsnap fetch now. It seems like its saying everything is up to date... caracal# portsnap fetch Looking up portsnap.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 2 mirrors found. Fetching snapshot tag from portsnap1.FreeBSD.org... done. Latest snapshot on server matches what we...

    Thunderbird

Yea, it does not seem to matter whether I try pop or imap, Thunderbird just sets there apparently doing nothing. No feedback, error messages or other visual indicators that anything at all is happening...

    Thunderbird

I just installed thunderbird from the ports. After completing the wizard to connect to a gmail account, I can't get it to check mail or send mail. It just sits there. No errors appear in the error console. After clicking GetMail, there isn't even a visual indication that anything is happening...

    loader.conf not working

Ok. I new this was going to end up being my fault somehow... It turns out that while I was attempting to get my USB headset working, I added a hint to the device.hints file. After having no luck, I removed the hint which was the last line in the file. I must have captured the very last quote on...

    loader.conf not working

I backed up /boot/defaults/loader.conf... And I modified it by uncommenting the autoboot_delay line and changing it to "2" rahter than "10". It was commented out in /boot/defaults/loader.conf... This time when I rebooted, the autoboot_delay of "2" in the /boot/defaults/loader.conf file was...

    loader.conf not working

Changed loader.conf to; autoboot_delay="2" nvidia_load="YES" legal.intel_wpi.license_ack="1" kern.hz="100" The behavior is unchanged; autoboot delay is still 10 seconds, the nvidia driver does not load and, when the kernel attempts to load the wpifw firmware image, it complains that...

    loader.conf not working

I just rechecked loader.conf for typos. It has only four lines; autoboot_delay="2" nvidia_load="YES" legal.intel_wpi.license_ack=1 kern.hz=100 I did not edit loader.rc and /boot/defaults/loader.conf appears unchanged...

    loader.conf not working

I don't think my loader.conf file is getting used by the boot process. The problem manifested when I could not start X. After poking around I discovered that the problem was because the nvidia driver was not loaded. So I checked the loader.conf file and nvidia_load="YES" is still there...

    Skype & USB Headset

I have been using Skype with great success for a while now. Up until this point I have been using regular speakers and a mmicrophone connected tot the computer mic and headphone jacks. I am now trying to use a Logitech USB Headset 350. It did not work at all at first. Then I added...

    Could not start kstartupconfig

Wow! I created a link to the libjpeg.so.10 file and it seems to have solved the problem entirely... ln -s /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.so.10 /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.so.9 This does not seem like the right solution though. At least I can start KDE now... I really didn't want to reinstall...
