    rsyslog cannot load lmnsd_ptcp.so

looks like 8.2212 is latest according the rsyslog page, so this doesn't look far enough behind to make that much difference,

    rsyslog cannot load lmnsd_ptcp.so

recurring error in /var/log/messsages saying rsyslog cannot load /usr/local/lib/rsyslog/lmnsd_ptcp.so - however the file does exist at that location and rsyslog appears to start and run. FreeBSD 12.3 rsyslog 8.2208.0

    OpenSSL CVE-2019-1551

My BSD assets are getting flagged for this vuln, trying to verify if OpenSSL in base (1.1.1d) had a back-ported fix. No indication on the FreeBSD advisories page that this CVE was ever an issue (or ever addressed) but it does show up in VuXML. Anyone aware of any documentation to indicate base...

    Mongodb/Unifi, "DSACK update: -245946829..-245946682, rcv_nxt: 4049020614" spam

having these debug messages effectively spamming /var/log/messages is a bit of a headache.

    NTP huge offset mystery

Interestingly, host has been keeping good time lately. Only two changes I can think of - freebsd-update from 12.1-RELEASE-p1 to -p2, and altered ntp.conf to point to the freebsd ntp pool rather than our internal time sources. Now monitoring ntp across numerous hosts to try to catch the...

Solved pkg: wrong architecture: FreeBSD:12.0:amd64 instead of FreeBSD:12:amd64

Chiming in with a "me too", all my other upgrades from 12.1-p1 to -p2 went smoothly, but this system (my workstation of course) is giving the error. (12.1-RELEASE-p2)

    NTP huge offset mystery

This host, and pretty much all the BSDs in this environment are using the base ntpd, with only one having an issue. ntpd_sync_on_start is also a de facto line in rc.conf for all these systems. Most of our infrastructure is virtual, so I'll have to do a quick check to see just how many 710R boxen...

    NTP huge offset mystery

    In my case it's: /var/db/ntpd.drift root 58976 0.0 0.0 19348 19428 - Ss 7Feb20 0:32.76 /usr/sbin/ntpd -dd -4 -p /var/db/ntp/ntpd.pid -c /etc/ntp.conf -f /var/db/ntpd.drift -g I'm fairly certain one of my steps has been to delete that and restart ntpd.

    NTP huge offset mystery

I have this one host, 12.1-p2, part of an Elasticsearch (Graylog) cluster that is constantly getting way out of sync time-wise. This is BSD on metal, like the other members of the cluster, and is the only one out of all my BSDs, virtual or otherwise, that exhibits this behaviour. As of right now...

updating installed package tries to remove other packages

Looked at the pkg options for clamav and sure enough milter=no, removed all three packages and built from ports - I think I might have to try pkg-lock to see if I can get other pkg maintenance to not mess with those particular ports.

updating installed package tries to remove other packages

Just wanted to provide a contemporary example, since this just happened: root@cxxxxxxx:/usr/home/xxxx # pkg install sudo Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue... FreeBSD repository is up to date. All repositories are up to date. New version of pkg detected; it needs to be installed first. The...

updating installed package tries to remove other packages

Have an ongoing issue with a couple hosts, pretty much anytime I update an installed package via pkg, it wants to remove clamav-unofficial-sigs. There seems to be an ongoing conflict between clamav, clamav-milter and clamav-unofficial-sigs - where updating any of those (and other packages)...

    Sound stopped working

Prior to a #pkg upgrade a few weeks back, sound worked as expected as /dev/dspX and if I cat a file to dsp1.1 I still get a squelch so that much is working. I have a feeling Pulse Audio might be behind the issue so I'm digging into that. Thoughts?

    WPA2 KrackAttack

same here - just following along out of interest, won't affect any of my *BSD boxen as they are all hard-wired, but there's probably a dozen devices at home that could be of some concern.

    WPA2 KrackAttack

Didn't see a security-specific board, feel free to move this to another more appropriate venue. Just seeking comment on FreeBSD status WRT the WPA2 attack. Sounds like OpenBSD got a heads-up and patched at the end of August. hxxps://www.krackattack.com hxxps://www.openbsd.org/errata60.html

    gray log pkg problem

Also, I would advise using MongoDB version 3.2 rather than 2.6, as the upgrade path from 2.6 might be more complicated.

Yes, including the Configuration Options section that tells you that web_enable and web_listen_uri are both valid options.
