Can I fix or recover a UFS partition?

I've been using an old HDD mounted in a USB caddy for users home folders, svn repositories and the ports framework. All was fine (on FreeBSD-6.3) until I tried to use it with a FreeBSD-7.1 main HDD (CF card). I could initially mount the UFS partition manually with: # mount /dev/da0s1f /usb...

No network without open firewall. What am I missing?

Thanks anomie, it was enough for me to realise what I had done. With the two ipfw lines in rc.conf: # kldstat | grep ipfw returned nothing! Two other network interfaces were previously used as a dummynet bridge. I had compiled ipfw into the kernel to get it working and, as you said...

No network without open firewall. What am I missing?

I'm stumped. I'm obviously missing something obvious, so I need your help. A headless PC running FreeBSD-6.4 gets its RFC1918 IP by dhcp from a Vigor 2820 router. It can only be pinged or connected to if the following lines exist in /etc/rc.conf: firewall_enable="YES" firewall_type="open"...

syslogd logs to all.log, but not to my.log

Just spent a fun hour or two solving this one, so I thought I'd possibly save someone some head scratching if they run into the same problem. I tried to set up a syslog server to log messages from my modem/router. I followed the handbook instructions here...

    UK mirrors and usergroup?

Perhaps not off topic enough, but it seems a good place to ask: Anyone know what has happened to the FreeBSD UK user group and the UK (web site) mirrors? Both mirrors just show directory contents and I haven't had a message from the UK user group for ages. There's no response at all from...

    FreeBSD on Soekris Hardware

I 'love' my net4801, so these would be my answers. Apologies if they weren't questions :) Installing: I do it the easy way, which is to plug a Compact Flash card into an CF - IDE adaptor on a larger faster computer, and proceed the usual way. It isn't much harder to do it the tftp way of...

    qt 4.5.0 installation

Aha. A little more effort on my part led me to find that the patch was to the wrong lines in qgraphicsproxywidget.cpp The first line referenced (521) actually appeared at 517, so the addition of four blank lines got me on the road again. :)

    qt 4.5.0 installation

I would very much like to get a good working Qt-4.5.0 installed and I have checked out the rc1 repository from Martin Wilkes' site. But I don't know what to do next and would greatly appreciate just a little nudge in the right direction. I've used normal ports before and have a new tree which I...
