Re: System freeze while switching from system console to Xse I use nvidia driver 96* and Xorg-1.12 The fact is that the trouble has happened lately, since I reinstalled the base system and rebuilt the ports. I have a FreeBSD-10 installation and there such nasty things don'r happen.

System freeze while switching from system console to Xserver

My system (FreeBSD-9.2)freezes when I switch to the system console and then back to the Xserver. In this situation I have no other choice than forced shutdown and subsequent fsck at next boot. Which might be the cause of the freeze ? Thank you.

    Unmounting NTFS slice fails

    1) What could be simpler than the system console? 2) Why would I unmount a mount point which is not listed in fstab? Still, the result is the same: $ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/ada0s2a 1015324 329568 604532 35% / devfs 1...

    ZFS for a desktop environment

    1) As far as know, Open Solaris installed on ZFS and it worked great as a desktop as any other OS would. 2) One cannot convert UFS to ZFS. Sorry.

You forgot to add ALL needed ATA related options. Here's an example from my config. # The 'ATA' driver supports all ATA and ATAPI devices, including PC Card # devices. You only need one "device ata" for it to find all # PCI and PC Card ATA/ATAPI devices on modern machines. # Alternatively...

    kernel compilation doubt: modules?

One may include in the kernel whatever is possible and needed for everyday use of the system: linux support, various file systems support, sound, graphics cards, ATA/SATA chipsets, ethernet NIC support, UFS journaling, ethernet bridging, firewall (ipfw, ipfilter, pf), provided there is a working...

Yes, that's p2p traffic, but why does the firewall block that port? It is not in the rules. Even if I stop the firewall, the download speed does not increase.
