Web Hosting Control Panel For FreeBSD

One that is open source AND maintained is WebMin. It is possible to set up multiple versions of PHP in it as well which bests many in that regard.

UFS Unable to expand UFS slice

To summarize: 1. Expand the size of the vHD in ESXi. Run gpart show and it should show at the end of the device as raw space. 2. Add the added capacity to the number 1 and only slice gpart resize -i 1 da0 gpart commit da0s1 3. Add the added capacity to the last partition, in this case...

UFS Unable to expand UFS slice

I would have figured it out on my own in a year or two. :D I've done this in FreeBSD 7.x, but not 10.x or newer. The new method is a LOT easier once you do it right. Thanks TONS!!!

UFS Unable to expand UFS slice

I've spent quite a bit of time on this using the manual and Googling but I still haven't been successful. Situation: FreeBSD 11.2, ESXi initially with 80G VHD, expanded to 130G. It is the last slice, /home, that I am attempting to expand. Initial: . # gpart show => 63 272629697 da0...

I would like to avoid setting up a Linux Server

I would like to avoid setting up a Linux Server, but I have a requirement for a project that distributes its database drivers, app broker, and web server, as Linux binaries only. These are not Open Source. I haven't touched Linux in 10+ years. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Virtualmin + FreeBSD 11

I've installed the Virtualmin package, but it does not show up in Webmin, neither in the server area, nor under unused modules. Webmin works fine, and I've edited everything to make the services work properly. What I want, however, is to finally have a web hosting control panel that would work...

    bind911 socket error

Thanks for you reply on this. I assumed a custom kernel would fix it, but I was hoping for a flag for bind911 package. I'm not the FreeBSD guru, however I find it peculiar for a generic package configuration for something like bind to have a dependency of a custom kernel. I have plenty older...

    A mini-FAQ on pkg

Awesome! PS: Actually, this is a fresh install of FreeBSD 11, so if it's not part of the base install, I don't know how it got there. The only things installed so far from packages are nano because the VM console is eating the <ctrl> character which is new, screen, and portupgrade. LOL! The...

    A mini-FAQ on pkg

If do the update, will I get updated to "latest" or will it update to the latest for 2017Q1? (since quarterlys do receive security updates) Edit: I assume I still need to do: portsdb -Uu pkgdb –F

    A mini-FAQ on pkg

That is very good to know. Since you have to request ports by specifying the quarter to prevent getting "latest", I wonder if there is an easy way to test what the latest quarter available is, so the command to fetch the ports for latest quarter can be automatically amended to pickup the latest...

    A mini-FAQ on pkg

From what I read, the default to quarterly started in FreeBSD 10.? My theory as to why is: - With packages, by setting them to "quarterly", users will be installing packages of the same date-time set, and thus they will be compatible. The only exception is during a quarter change. That is far...
