yes, the printer is enabled on the xp machine, i have another xp machine that can access the same printer no problem. I am surprised at this (note that cups sees my networked printer fine, it just has problems with the printer on the xp pro machine)

which release do you have? .. if you got 7, try getting 6.4 and see if you cna boot with that, i for one cannot install 7 for some reason, for 6.4 works just fine

i went into root and ran konsole and everything seems to be fine, i am unable to run xterm under my account implicitly no konsole also there seems to be a longer delay in loading kde under my acount than the root account ... i also read somewhere this konsole crash might have something to do...

got similar problem with 7.0 .. i got 6.4 working without a hitch but when i try 7.0 it gets stuck at before loading the sysinstall ... with a lil luck i was able to install it but it will not boot ... (the cd works on all my other computers exccept this one) so i gave up .. i'll try it later...
