    Other Wayfire vs Hyprland anyone?

With a nice Wayfire Tutorial here in the forum, I was wondering if anyone has gathered any similar experience with Hyprland on FreeBSD already? x11-wm/hyprland and supplementary ports have been added at the end of last year and are kept up-to-date, but I could not really find any info /...

    Example/Tutorial: Pure Wayland Desktop (discussion)

So this discussion died 2 months ago? Just wondering how practicable this desktop approach is in real life to get work done.

Voltaire please feel free to show off more pictures of your bspwm setup, I'd also be interested in which apps you are using and how they look (GTK/Qt?).

Solved WINE on FreeBSD 13 - Am I Just Wasting My Time?

So Chapter 12. WINE of the manual still hasn't been updated to reflect the current situation? Neither Suyimuzu nor Homura are found on FreshPorts. What's the current recommendation, emulators/wine (v7.0.1,1) or emulators/wine-devel (7.22,1)? Currently on Arch Linux, getting that damned 32bit...

Voltaire makes me wanna take another look at bspwm, but don't have time to start from scratch. Did you share your config? Which bar are you using?

FreeBSD and latest Minecraft Java Edition v1.18 Client?

Yeah, already gave up an that idea again, as I just can't justify to give M$ any money.

FreeBSD and latest Minecraft Java Edition v1.18 Client?

Anyone here playing Minecraft on a FreeBSD desktop installation with the latest Minecraft Java Edition v1.18 client? I have just tried to find out what the current status is on this, but the information is not conclusive: The port games/minecraft-client is outdated (v1.7.9_6) and unmaintained...

Backup solution for dedicated root server + storage box at Hetzner

I really don't want to have additional costs for this right now, so any solution for what I already have (the storage box at Hetzner is included with the dedicated root server without additional charge) would be appreciated.

Backup solution for dedicated root server + storage box at Hetzner

This obviously will require more time to play around, but right now I just need a quick & dirty solution for that problem. This is what I got so far: # zfs snapshot -r zroot@2022-02-05 # zfs send -R zroot@2022-02-05 | gzip > 2022-02-05.zfs.gz # gpg -c 2022-02-05.zfs.gz # scp...

Backup solution for dedicated root server + storage box at Hetzner

A possible solution for the future (though my internet connect s really slow at my current location), but right now I'm looking for the easiest approach to make use of that storage box for that.

Backup solution for dedicated root server + storage box at Hetzner

That storage box likely runs on Debian Linux, and as said, without ssh login at that box, nothing can be done except sending backup files there by using one of the supported protocols.

Backup solution for dedicated root server + storage box at Hetzner

A dedicated root server at Hetzner running FreeBSD 13.0-RELEASE-p7 with 2 x 512GB NVMe configured as ZFS mirror and a storage box with 100GB offering access by scp / rsync / BorgBackup (but no ssh login). # zfs list NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT zroot...

Shell Script for rebooting if network down for a certain amount of time?

gpw928 Thanks, but hopefully I don't need it anymore. Everything is running smooth since the switch to net/realtek-re-kmod, and I'm hopeful that this has resolved the issue.

Shell Script for rebooting if network down for a certain amount of time?

Not seeing anything unusual so far (I guess): # netstat -ss tcp: 4224773 packets sent 2687768 data packets (2886450952 bytes) 1043 data packets (1079989 bytes) retransmitted 95 data packets unnecessarily retransmitted 1532746 ack-only packets (275516 delayed)...

_martin The output of netstat -ss is quite long. Anything specific I should be looking for?

Shell Script for rebooting if network down for a certain amount of time?

Can't check anything hardware as it's a server in a data center and I don't want to bother the support team again just because of that single failure that could not be reproduced so far. If it should happen again, I'll request the cable to be checked (according to them there were no issues with...

Shell Script for rebooting if network down for a certain amount of time?

Just rebooted and re0: version:1.96.04 is in use. I have a good feeling that this will solve the issue. For reference, the data of the used NIC: re0: <RealTek 8168/8111 B/C/CP/D/DP/E/F/G PCIe Gigabit Ethernet> port 0xd000-0xd0ff mem 0xfc504000-0xfc504fff,0xfc500000-0xfc503fff irq 35 at device...

That's only for a CentOS installation: Very well, I haven't been using this driver yet, but I'm going to try it now.

Their cheapest AX server, so no, definitely no server grade hardware. This is how the UI for requesting a reset looks like:

Shell Script for rebooting if network down for a certain amount of time?

Let's hope you are wrong, because a real hardware issue would be difficult to handle under these circumstances, since it's not reproducible for now. It's a reset option in the ISP's dashboard (it's a server at Hetzner, if you know how that looks like).
