Difference between /releng and /stable, today.

Actually, I think releng/10.3 is what I was thinking release/10.3.0 would be. -STABLE will include all the work between 10.3 and 10.4 as its happening. But, releng/10.3 will be relatively static, only changing for critical security fixes and major bugs?

Difference between /releng and /stable, today.

I think I got confused with that being what -RELEASE is for. -RELEASE also gets critical security updates, no? If I grab releng/10.3 and update it periodically, and rebuild from it, it will rarely change, only for critical security fixes and major bugs?

    svnlite to svn without src.conf?

Is there a proper way to convert svnlite to svn, with a release install? Usually, if I'm building from source, I can throw src.conf WITH_SVN=yes and it renames svnlite to svn. But, I dont know if there's more involved to it or not? Is there a proper way to have svn instead of svnlite, without...

Difference between /releng and /stable, today.

What's the difference between the source at https://svn0.us-west.freebsd.org/base/releng/10.3/ and https://svn0.us-west.freebsd.org/base/stable/10/ today? Since 10.3 is the latest release, they should be the same? no?

    Gnome-terminal, Error constructing proxy

Yes, this seems to be the issue. Or, well, changing locale to UTF-8 got it past this particular error and allowed it to start. Things still don't seem right, but I need to investigate further. It's not real clear what all the implications are to changing locale, and how locale gets changed.

    Gnome-terminal, Error constructing proxy

x11/gnome-terminal won't start. This is the error when starting it from an x11/xterm % gnome-terminal & Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal...

    svnlite to svn, when freebsd-update

Ok, I thought maybe there would be some option or configuration somewhere for this situation. The svnlite binaries are so perfect for what they do, wish there was easy way to convert them the way src.conf can. I might just symlink them or just reference svnlite in script. Not a huge issue.

    svnlite to svn, when freebsd-update

On servers where I am building world from source I can throw WITH_SVN=yes in src.conf and it will change the Subversion binaries from svnlite back to svn. Otherwise the included Subversion binaries use the svnlite naming scheme. I'm guessing to avoid conflicting with a Subversion port install...

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

All is right in the world again. 10.1-STABLE FreeBSD 10.1-STABLE #0 r274551: Sat Nov 15 12:25:00 PST 2014 After updating 10-STABLE sources today and doing a fresh buildworld! Victory!

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

I think I confused everyone by referencing the output of uname -a, and the -STABLE/-RELEASE terminology interchangeably. Sorry if this created a confusing thread.

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

Ok. Yes, this is the way I thought it was. Following sroberts instructions would take me off the -STABLE track and put me on -RELEASE. Which is an option, if that's what someone wanted to do, they could checkout the 10.1.0-RELEASE source, buildworld off that, and be on 10.1-RELEASE. For a...

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

Now that 10.1-RELEASE has been released, a new 10.1-STABLE will branch off of it? Or does the 10-STABLE continue on? On or after 2014-11-18, would there be two separate tracks, 10-STABLE and 10.1-STABLE? Or, 10-RELEASE is released, and 10-STABLE emerges from there, with STABLE updates, and...

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

If I'm currently running 10-STABLE using svn0.us-west.freebsd.org/base/stable/10 source, and buildworld off that, and then today follow your instructions, I'll start at 10.1.0-RELEASE and continue on as 10.1-STABLE? Or, I would then be on 10.1.0-RELEASE? And stay on -RELEASE? Only updating when...

    Solved Question about 10.1 /usr/src/UPDATING

The FreeBSD website lists 10.1 production as available. The /usr/src/UPDATING file also posted 10.1-RELEASE, but with a 2014-11-18 date. I'm not sure if the actual source is now available, or this is part of the rollout process? For instance, if I have a server using -STABLE source...

Solved ezjail-admin update -i -p | error, env: not found

This fixed the problem. I think wblock@ was right, I used svn update to update my source in between the last buildworld and trying to use ezjail-admin. This mismatch created the problem. I used svn update to update my source again yesterday, rebuilt the world, and the error is no more.

Solved ezjail-admin update -i -p | error, env: not found

I was hoping to put off rebuild until 10.1-RELEASE is done. But, maybe I just need to do it now. See if that clears things up. Yeah, ok, I'm going to do that now.

Solved ezjail-admin update -i -p | error, env: not found

Yes. Last time was about three weeks ago. I'm starting to wonder if it's a simple issue with this being prerelease to 10.1 release? /usr/src/include/mk-osreldate.sh not being able to handle the pre-release nomenclature situation? Just a wild guess. I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough to know.

Solved ezjail-admin update -i -p | error, env: not found

I'm using sysutils/ezjail to create and manage jails. Host is FreeBSD 10-STABLE, last source update and buildworld was about three weeks ago. After installing sysutils/ezjail from package, the sole change I make is to, /usr/local/etc/ezjail.conf # ezjail_jaildir=/usr/jails...

    Solved Virtualbox-ose-4.3.18 build failure

Solved. Kind of. Well, I turned all options off, built it, it failed. Reset to default options, built it, it didn't fail. So, maybe was just an option that got hung somewhere.
