Webdav vs Ftp, which is better and more secure?

more than 1 year old thread :) but maybe I can share my (bad) experience. Around 2005 my web server that use WebDAV had been compromised (there was a tool to inject a file on a WebDAV folder). So I use virtualization ever since. ------------------------------ Bogi Aditya Telkom Institute of...

automatic secure copy between 6.3 and 8.2

The problem is, there's no error message (or perhaps I don't know how to obtain the error message). This is what I do to create the connection: $ ssh-keygen -b 1024 -t dsa (creating id_dsa and id_dsa.pub) Then I put the private key to my /home/user/.ssh folder and put the public key to file...

automatic secure copy between 6.3 and 8.2

I need to do an automatic secure copy between my server (FreeBSD 8.2) and other server (not owned by me, and using FreeBSD 6.3). Apparently the different type of OpenSSH didn't agree to create an automatic scp. This is when I type in: $ telnet 10.1.1.5 22 (10.1.1.5 use FreeBSD 6.3) Trying...

    Dovecot2 and NOCC

Thank you for all PM to me, they're really helpful. First I thought my Dovecot's configuration is okay, but when I tried to connect manually to Dovecot's pop3: $ telnet localhost 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. user bogi +OK pass...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

Thank you all I've installed Dovecot to replace POPD, and everything works perfect in my FreeBSD 8.2/amd64 machine. Fast mail retrieval, no more corrupt attachment, and I can even play with the secure mode in pop3 and imap. Thank you.

    Dovecot2 and NOCC

Hi all, I recently moved from POPD (mail/popd) to Dovecot2 (mail/dovecot2). I've tested my Dovecot's configuration using telnet localhost 110 and telnet localhost 143. All are fine (got a reply "Dovecot ready"). I use NOCC and Openwebmail for my MUA, Openwebmail works fine with Dovecot. But...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

Thanks guys, I just used mutt to open the email in FreeBSD 8.2/i386 server, save the attachment, and it WORKS fine (I can open the file without error). So I suspect the problem is in the popd (/usr/ports/mail/popd) which, maybe, has a bug in 64-bit version of FreeBSD. Now I will try to use...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

I think the problem is on how the amd64 and i386 version read the file. Perhaps you can download my mailbox at: http://118.97.188.243/bogi. Using this file, I can read the attachment on FreeBSD 8.2/i386 server and got "file corrupt" on FreeBSD 8.2/amd64 server. I'll try to use mutt to check...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

The problem is, the comparison between the original and the attachment is never the same and the different byte is sometime in between, and sometime in the end of file. Sorry, what do you mean with "local login"? is it using "mail" command line? I've tried, but how can I save the attachment...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

For example, in 1 attachment, the original file size is 189KB, but when it become an attachment in amd64 server, the MUA said the file size is 208KB (and it said it's a corrupt file. But when I transfer the mail file (/var/mail/bogi) to i386 server the MUA said the file size is 189KB (and no...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

thanks for the reply, even the size of the attachment file is different from the original (smaller) so I don't have to use md5 to check both file (original and attachment). and it failed for every kind of attachment, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, rar, zip, even a text file is corrupt (as long as the...

email attachment always corrupt in FreeBSD8.2/amd64

Hi all, I've been using FreeBSD/i386 since 2004 for all my servers. Recently I got two identical servers and installed FreeBSD 8.2/i386 for one server and FreeBSD 8.2/amd64 for the other. I started using the amd64 one for my mail server: - Sendmail 8.14.4 as the MTA - popd-2.2.2 as the POP3 -...
