I thought I posted this last January on the forums when I posted it to my old web site, daily.onlybsd.com. It's a link to the future of AT&T computing and how it will effect the future. Thanks for posting UNIXGod.

    Dennis Ritchie (September 9, 1941 - October 9, 2011)

I'll tell you my opinion. I think that all the major BSD's (FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, and DragonFLY) should honor Dennis in their next releases. At least use techies would appreciate it. It might even make Slashdot and then the major players might honor Dennis for his impact in the computing...

    Dennis Ritchie (September 9, 1941 - October 9, 2011)

I meet Dennis once, maybe talked to him about 5 minutes. But he left a lasting impression on me about his love for simplicity and UNIX. Another one of my hero's is dead. My deepest condolences go out to his family and to the UNIX community.

That has to be the best CSH alias I've seen in this thread, thanks wblock. I'll have to study this tomorrow. I'd stay up all night trying to figure the alias out! I started this thread to learn more about CSH and it's differences from the bourne shell and I've learned a lot!

Reminiscing about the mainframe days ...

OK Guys, I found this statement on Wikipedia's Unix-like web page. IBM z/OS's POSIX compatibility layer is sufficiently complete to be certified as trademark UNIX I know it came from Wikipedia, and I don't trust Wikipedia. Does anyone know if this is a valid statement? Chime in anytime...

Reminiscing about the mainframe days ...

I remember when the IBM PC was starting to be used by business. The main selling point was you didn't have to use a connection to the mainframe! Now we have PC's that depend on connections to multiple servers and a heftier network to support them. Decentralization is a bad word again, and...
