    Fantastic! Thank you! I booted into single user mode and mounted the FS as root, edited the rc.conf file and I've got a usuable system again, thank you!

    My installation of FreeBSD is currently suffering video problems when gnome starts automatically (Have another thread going) But what I initially need to do is figure out how to boot my laptop, without FreeBSD parsing the rc.conf file so I can get to a terminal. -How do I do this? Thanks all
