    Solved Desktop Launch Malfunction

^^^ this! When Mate fails to load, first fix is to remove ~/.config/dconf/user. It will result in losing all of your preferences, but Mate will load and run again. Failure is the result of corrupted data within that file.

    Solved Missing flashplugin11

Thanks, guys! There are so many variables afoot between pipelight, wine and a few other issues that I'm kinda struggling to figure out where the problem is. I'll likely need to start a new thread on it, but if I could ask just one little last favor in this one. Try going to www.crackle.com and...

Confirming that i386-wine-staging-1.9.11,1 resolves the issue.

    Solved Missing flashplugin11

Whilst I realize that replying to a "SOLVED" thread is probably really bad form, I just had a simple question since you seem to have Flash and Pipelight working. For me, Pipelight works fine with Flash on any site which is regular http, but when I try to load Youtube or a site such as...

Solved Need a favor trying to recover two ports

Thanks for that, I was looking for any version that I could build quickly, since my issue is trying to get pipelight working with a more current version of Adobe Flash than we have. Yeah, I know. I'm a glutton for punishment.

    i386-wine-staging Doesn't Run

Just a heads-up, i386-wine-devel-1.9.10,1 has been updated in ports, and it's just as broken in FreeBSD. I've done a little debugging, and services.exe appears to be broken on an attempt to open a "named pipe" which is not supported in Wine currently. Pipe calls fall back to byte mode, and...

Solved Need a favor trying to recover two ports

Finally found what I was looking for, and wanted to post this for the benefit of anyone else who has to fall back to an earlier port version because the latest portsnap provides code that just doesn't cut it. ;) https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-ports/commits/master/emulators/i386-wine-devel...

Solved Need a favor trying to recover two ports

Hi, all! I'm trying to accomplish the likely impossible, trying to get pipelight working with Flash 21 and have been having loads of heartbreak trying to make it work. I've isolated the issue down to either Flash detecting that it's running in Wine, or i386-wine-devel and i386-wine-staging...

Thanks for the additional checkouts, Jason!

    Patch for wpa_supplicant

Thanks for doing that! In our arrangement, we don't use the port but were concerned about the base system p2p.c as a "just in case." Glad to see that it isn't a default option given that a poorly-formed SSID could trigger this one. Thanks again.

    Patch for wpa_supplicant

There is a security issue with wpa_supplicant of note. I went looking for information on the FreeBSD.org site and apparently it hasn't been mitigated as yet. There is a patch available however which consists of a single line of code. The information on CVE-2015-1863 can be found here...

    Video chat

I highly recommend net/linphone. It builds nicely from ports, but the package does not include video support so you will need to build it from ports. I've been happy with it ever since Microsoft killed off the existing Skype. Edit: To add as to the reason why I recommend Linphone so highly for...

Solved Is this a problem with the wget package, my system, or me?

Are FreeBSD developers ever going to start focusing on user facing stuff?

We've worked on a nice foolproof desktop based on FreeBSD and GNOME 2 and it's matured nicely except for a raft of natty hardware issues that we all know about. However, for older machines it can't be beat. And if only we'd been able to get funding to continue our project, we'd probably have...

    Will FreeBSD mount my iPhone?

I can help here, I've even written a script for it as well as a devd configuration file for all sorts of iDevices to load automagically. But before I do, just ensure that you have /usr/local/sbin/usbmuxd loading in your rc.local file - that needs to load first, then you need to also have...

Remote activation of phones, mics and cameras

For anyone concerned about misbehaving wireless toys, Google "faraday bag". Whip that bad boy in the bag and it won't even know it's a phone, much less anything more nefarious. Don't let it out of the bag except when you need to use it. Problem solved!

    FreeBSD and Apple connection

And I'll add to the thanks, that this is something I've had to tell many over the years new to security. The code is perfect. You've audited it until you dropped. But do you really trust the compiler that generated the OBJ code from it? Their face when ... Thanks for that reiteration, bro! :)
