    Privoxy + Tor Questions

I use Privoxy only for additional header stripping, but it isn't working as expected. If you use the Gnome-config-deamon you could set system-wide proxy settings in a Gnome session. I use the gnome-config-daemon on Openbox and have set up IP aliases for my net interface and also set additional...

    [REQUEST] FreeBSD Channel on YouTube

I think video howto's are a bit too noobish. But there is nothing wrong with some technical entertainment. FreeBSD is the best documented OS, so if you want to learn how to get things under control then you have to follow the golden rule: RTFM!. The FreeBSD DOC project has an extensive...

    No Sound on FreeBSD

I found this in the manual snd_hda ``GPIOs'' are a codec's General Purpose I/O pins which system integrators sometimes use to control external muters, amplifiers and so on. If you have no sound, or sound volume is not adequate, you may have to experiment a bit with the GPIO setup to find the...

    No Sound on FreeBSD

first turn up all mixer channels and then: cat /dev/random > /dev/pcm0 cat /dev/random > /dev/pcm1 cat /dev/random > /dev/pcm2 or cat /dev/random > /dev/dsp0 Let each command run and then put the minijack from your speakers or amp in each possible hole from your dac. Repeat them on all...

    No Sound on FreeBSD

If you run the mixer command, do you see anything with a value of "0"? If so turn that up also. Are you sure the cables are connected and if you have a laptop that the volume pot is up?? I don't know what is wrong. Maybe you can try to load the sound modules one by one and see if you card needs...

    No Sound on FreeBSD

It looks like your card is up and running. Sometimes the sound is muted by default. Run the command mixer pcm 90 and mizer vol 90 and turn on the volume. For an audio source you can use cat /dev/random > /dev/dsp to test.

alsa midi is the key to serious musicproduction

That's not true, because you can use usb controllers and keyboards with the uaudio.ko module. I even put i the first notes :) So the kernel functionality is there, the software also, except the RAW midi to alsa.

alsa midi is the key to serious musicproduction

I think that the alsa midi layer is a great contribution to FreeBSD and audio/midi music production. Why? Because its the portal to get midi to wine apps. There is even an asio to wine project to get the sound out in low latency with jack. So all the ingredients are there. -usb midi -wine and...

    MIDI detection

Hi hselasky, This is very good news. Going to try it when I get home. I am running a FreeBSD box with Absynth, Alchemy. I use SAVIHOST to run the vst plugins. You can use your keypads to play notes, this way I can use it for sound design. But music production is very limited on linux and...

FreeBSD as an RTos? and low latency audio (xwax, mixxx)

The latency is about the sound comming in and out again. For Dj-ing with control vinyl to play wav, flac and pcm tune on a cpu. It works like this, every turtable is converted to line level (RIAA conversion) and than send out to the cpu. so 2 turtables need 4 inputs. A program xwax for example...
