Solved this. Looks like it was a problem that had happened back in 2014 as well. portmaster apparently did not recognize that redlands needed to be rebuilt. This was the problem with libreoffice back then and again for me today. Once I rebuilt redlands now the KDE ports are rebuilding fine.
Hello,
Not sure if this should be in ports or under KDE.
I am attempting to update my ports on FreeBSD 10.3 (latest patch installed). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
x11/kdelibs4 fails on multiple tries with the following error:
---...
I was able to boot by pointing to a kernel in /boot/kernel.old1/fdescfs.ko. This allowed me to complete the booting process. I then completed the freebsd-update process and rebooted. After several reboots I am still at 10.1. It seems that freebsd-update is somehow broken on my machine. I will...
Thanks again. I updated to 10.3 again now using freebsd-update. Note that all ports were updated prior to this. Before reboot I commented out the line vboxdrv_load="YES" from loader.conf.
Upon rebooting this is where it chokes:
Mounting local file systems:KLD fdescfs.ko: depends on kernel -...
Thanks, are you suggesting then that removing vboxdrv_load="YES" from loader.conf will stop this from happening? Seems like it should just block the ability to use that kernel, not can the machine completely, especially since there is no mention that the ports need to be rebuilt moving from 10.1...
Sorry, it seems that this is an ongoing problem that has not been fixed yet, as noted in 55338.
That said, I do have the problem of not being able to find any zpool during the boot process after deleting the old zroot zpool.
OK, I just found this thread after having made a new thread describing the exact same issue 56862 (oops).
So, is the only answer to overwrite and do a new install of 10.3 over 10.1? There is clearly some problem that is yet to be diagnosed with freebsd-update and 10.1 on zfs boot.
Hello,
Apologies to start because I am not sure where to post this, nor how to title it. The issue is somewhat involved, but does manifest as an inability to upgrade from 10.1 to 10.3.
Using freebsd-update I update my system as per the instructions. When I reboot, it appears that the...
Hello,
I am not clear on where the error is coming from, therefore I'm uncertain of where to post this.
It started about 2 weeks ago with a daily ZFS snapshot getting stuck around midnight, I believe it was taking a snapshot of a filesystem on ada5, which is part of a mirror with ada4...
OK. Fixed. Partly at least.
It seems that I needed to run geli restore first, I was then able to attach the disk. Perhaps this is because it was not detached properly?
Well, this does not appear to work properly and I am not clear why.It seems like it never gets to the point of mounting and being called da0.
I have placed the above flags in /etc/rc.conf but when I turn on the external drive, it is not available. This is what I see in the dmesg output...
Hello,
I am having trouble updating my 10.1 to 10.2. Basically, upon reboot after the first freebsd-update install, I get a kernel mismatch and many drivers, including fsdesfc.ko are not loadable.
I am beginning to think the problem is because I moved the boot filesystem to a new disk. I am...
Hello,
I have multiple internal drives that are encrypted with geli via a password only. I am running 10.1 presently, and upon reboot I am asked for a password to decrypt the drives and continue the boot process. I do not have anything in /boot/loader.conf about them, other than instructing it...
Hello,
I have tried unsuccessfully to migrate to a beadm compatible set-up from my prior ZFS layout as detailed in wikis for 9.0 some time ago. Basically, beadm continues to say that the system is not compatible with beadm. Aside from ZFS mounting issues, like never being able to change the...
Hello,
Since updating the Java ports I am having an issue running javavm. I have tried to make OpenJDK 1.8 my default, but it seems LibreOffice still requests 1.7, so I have both installed. I also have linux-oracle-jkd 1.8 installed, probably for Opera (?). When running javavm I get the...
Just to post a reply so that others can get Tophat to build on FreeBSD. The patch below works:

Yes, sweet, it looks like it is working. I don't remember why I checked off the SDK option. At some point it thought I needed it. For me, seems to be working with CUPS, JAVA, KDE4 and WEBDAV options on. Thanks,
