I'd like to second this. I have FreeBSD release 8 AMD64 with the wine-amd64-8-1.1.30,1.tbz package installed, and I get the same error despite the file being where it's supposed to be.
Of all the things I've had to muck around trying to set up on FreeBSD 8 on my own AMD64 system, the nvidia driver has proven one of the easiest. As I recall, I got it from nvidia's site (following an online search) and just followed directions to have my Xorg using the new driver.

I can only speak for my old iBook G4. The FreeBSD 8 installer wouldn't properly partition and format the hard drive. It had an odd way of trying to do it, but failing - it saw that there was a hard drive, but it wouldn't delete existing partitions (whether from Mac OS X or Fedora Linux), though...
