Hm, I have nothing connected to my laptop and the internal display shuts off. Do you have the same problem when there is no external display connected?
I am having the exact same issue with my ThinkPad P71. yuripv wrote here that he had no issue with 12.0-ALPHA9. Well, I tried 12.0-BETA3 and... I am still getting a black screen when exiting my X session.
I already enabled Discrete Graphics in the BIOS and X is working fine with my NVIDIA card. The problem I have is that I cannot return to the console nor can I log out from GNOME because GDM returns back to the console for this and then I get a black screen. I do not really need efifb but it...
I am experiencing a similar issue like hazz.
kern.vty="sc" does not work as the display freezes as soon as the kernel is booting. These are the last lines I can see:
Booting...
Start @ 0xffffffff80310000 ...
EFI framebuffer information:
addr, size 0xa0000000, 0x21c0000
dimensions 3840...
Disclaimer: Do not do it like this! Patch the Makefile of x11/nvidia-driver!
You asked for it...
# mv /usr/local/lib/libGL.so.1.2.0 /usr/local/lib/libGL.so.1.2.0.orig
# cp /usr/local/lib/libGL-NVIDIA.so.1 /usr/local/lib/libGL.so.1.2.0
Again, it is extremely bad to do it like this.

Thanks, I know that using xorg.conf is not how to do it. ;) I just quickly hacked the config file together for a first test. Still have not decided if I will use VirtualGL or just the NVIDIA card. If I use VirtualGL then I need another setup anyway to be able to start both X servers.
Cannot really help you with your mouse issue but there are already several threads about mice not working, e.g.

You might want to check them out.
Meanwhile I was able to (temporarily) fix the segfault in tracker-miner-fs (not exactly X.Org-related but oh well). The issue has...
I strongly recommend that you do not do it like I did (because that was a quick & dirty hack) but check out 226403. You need to patch the Makefile of x11/nvidia-driver and rebuild the port, then it should work. I just replaced libGL.so.1.2.0 which is not how you should do it. ;)
No, the screen is black like in Ctrl+Alt+Fn does not do anything, but the machine is still fully functional. Is not GDM restarted after a logout? This would more or less be the same like switching to the console from X which also results in a black screen.
I think I will either try...
Just for the record: Installing FreeBSD on a Samsung 970 Pro worked without any issues. So this problem indeed seems to be related to the Samsung 961 series.

Thanks for the link, that is exactly what I figured out on my own today. ;) Just for testing I replaced libGL.so.1.2.0 from Mesa with the NVIDIA version to get GDM working (see my 67799). I will definitely give the Makefile patch a try!

Well, if you see this error message
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
in /var/log/gdm/:0-greeter.log then you are using the libGL library from Mesa instead from the NVIDIA driver. That is what I found out after some googling. ;) By the way, I attached the wrong file, I did not...
The NVIDIA driver is unable to assign a connected display device because of Optimus.
With Optimus (i.e. both integrated and discrete graphics adapter) enabled, the integrated graphics adapter (Intel HD Graphics 630 in your case) is controlling the display and the NVIDIA graphics adapter is just...
Thanks for the reply, I do not have a secondary monitor configured so the position part does not apply. I have disabled the Composite extension but that did not change anything (except that I see in Xorg.0.log that the extension has been disabled). Still getting a black screen.
