Has anyone had any success with the preview of Gnome Shell? I got it running just fine with gnome-shell --replace, but desk-applets don't appear in the top panel and the "Find" option doesn't seem to find any applications that aren't preferences, nor does the "Applications" option show any applications at all. Is this merely the limits of the preview or do I need to somehow instruct Gnome Shell of where to look for my existing Gnome menus?

I havn't been able to get it to work yet. It loads for a long time and then says the shell has been killed.

gnome-shell --replace works ok with the same issues atomicplayboy is experiencing. I would love to know howto solve these issues!

A little idea, maybe its not looking for .desktop files in /usr/local/share/applications -- gnome's themeing infrastructure doesn't seem to load up the theme engines nor the mouse icons so it could be a pattern.. :i
