What Gnome daemons are you starting in /etc/rc.conf?

You may wish to look at the FAQ at www.freebsd.org/gnome.

Hal and dbus aren't started, have a look at the Gnome FAQ it's mentioned there (plus a few other handy tips).

Hi hinneni,

Questions regarding Gnome, KDE, *insert here random window manager / desktop environment* should be placed under the forum's section for Desktop Usage at http://forums.freebsd.org/forumdisplay.php?f=41.

That way if someones come across a similar issue he'd find it along with the remaining desktop threads.

Oh and if you are trying to add/change groups and users if should use the command line. I *think* I've read somewhere in this thread using Gnome to do so would give you the expected outputs.

Happy school project ;)
