I know there are a lot of fans of the Fluxbox Window Manager and I thought we should make a specific thread to just screenshots for Fluxbox. People look at screenshots to view specific Window Managers or Desktop Environments.Would make things easier for people just looking. If the mods agree, could we make this a Sticky?
I will start
Fluxbox-1.1.0.1_2

Aterm with ZSH
Scrot for screenshot
Torsmo for viewing System Resources ( Work in progress )

Hello all,
I havenot a chance to use FreeBSD for my desktop (though I used it for my other purposes). I am using Arch Linux on my PC. I think my following words may cause some wars but I must agree that Fluxbox isnot as flexible as Openbox though it's easily to configure Fluxbox than Openbox :) And conky is a very good replacement of torsmo :) I have switched to Openbox after being Flux's fan in about 3 years :)
I haven't good screenshots, though.
Best wishes

Hey, that's the joy of having options, right? I have been playing with both torsmo and conky actually. I haven't made a decision on which I prefer yet. Screenshots give people a feel of something before they install it. You do not have to like or use Fluxbox simply because someone else does. Go create a thread for OpenBox Screenshots if you want. I have a feeling this is going to be the most popular *BSD Forum yet. Enjoy!

That is a snazzy set-up you have there my friend. That wallpaper looks really familiar. Looks kinda like the West Loop looking towards the Eisenhower Expressway along Congress here in Chicago. Hmm... whatever. I like the look. It looks great.

Cutting chars at exact position is not practical, use "delimiting" cutting of data you need:
% sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature | cut -d ' ' -f 2
% sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature | awk '{print $2}'

The font is Pragmata. Can be shared ofcourse! The .Xdefaults and most of the other configs are from vermaden. But I have the configs uploaded here (http://dotfiles.org/~section9) as well!
Hope that helps. If you need the font, just send me a private message!

On a related note, I made a fluxbox theme a couple of days back and uploaded the same over at box-look. If anyone is interested, just give it a run. The idea was to make a theme that went well with my Xdefaults colors. Here is the link for the same and a screenshot of the theme in action!

I use openbox with simple menu and panel. My conkyrc can be found at viettug (http://viettug.org/attachments/download/199/.conkyrc.txt). I use some scripts to get random wallpapers from internet, for e.g. gnome-art.sh (http://viettug.org/attachments/download/197/gnome-art.sh). The empty boxes at the bottom of Conky area show my wireless traffic.

I prefer x11/xwd simply because it's historically part of X (though with the modular stuff now, it's not always automatically installed). With graphics/netpbm you can do xwd -root | xwdtopnm | pnmtopng > screenshot.png.
There's also graphics/scrot, which many people here seem to use.
I believe graphics/gimp will screenshot (though do check for yourself), also I'm fairly sure graphics/xv does too.

Yes you can take screenshots with graphics/gimp. If you have graphics/ImageMagick installed, you can use the import command. Pretty neat.
I myself use graphics/scrot.

You can also use imlib2_grab from imlib2 package:
% pkg_info -L -x imlib2 | grep grab
/usr/local/bin/imlib2_grab
% imlib2_grab
Usage: imlib2_grab [-v] [-id <drawable id>] [-width <width>] [-height <height>] [-noshape] <output file>
% imlib2_grab shot.png
% ls -l shot.png
-rw-r--r-- 1 vermaden vermaden 296326 2010.03.13 11:15 shot.png
I generally use that cross-os scripts for screenshots (runs on FreeBSD/Solaris/Linux):

I am another scrot user. I mapped it to my Print Screen key for quick access;
%whereis -sq scrot
/usr/ports/graphics/scrot
%grep scrot .fluxbox/keys
Print :Exec scrot -c -d 3 -m '%Y-%m-%d_$wx$h.png'
%grep scrot .fluxbox/menu
[exec] (ScreenShot) {scrot -s -q 85}
I like the other methods as well but I use scrot with "-s" switch in my menu so I am select a window or region and the Print key for full screen cap. Works well for me.
