why would you ask that

The answer is no. There is no reason for us to host torrent files here.

There is already a FreeBSD torrent-tracker on http://torrents.freebsd.org:8080/

I mean could I hold torrent files if I had one of these forums?

I think Dustin is asking if the forum software supports torrents. If so, he would like to use the software for his own site.

Any forum software that allows uploading of files would be usable. A torrent is just a small, simple text file.

This question should probably be asked at the vBulletin forum (https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/), but SirDice is correct. If the forum settings allow it, any file type can be uploaded. This forum does not, because we have no need for .torrent files. Anyway, if this has nothing to do with this particular forum or FreeBSD, I suggest we don't continue this topic here.

You can upload any filetype by either changing the extension (i.e. file.torrent.txt) or adding to an archive (IIRC tar.gz and zip are allowed by default).

There's still no need for torrent files here, though ..

Perhaps someone makes a custom LiveFS, and wants to upload it as a torrent. Or created a particularly large package which needs testing ...

torrent files would sure beat uploading 1G attachments ;)

It's probably still better to just link to the tracker it's hosted on ;) Anyway, I don't think that's where Dustin was headed with this question..
