I would just like to say what a great forum and hello.

I am a complete newbie so please bare with me sooo much to learn.

I have managed to install FreeBSD 7.x, Xorg and KDE4 in the last couple of days however when I start KDE4 there is no package manager how would I install adept? I have tried a lot of searching but unfortunately most posts are about problems with adept rather than installation.

With thanks in advance.

Richard

Adept is for Linux, it does not work on FreeBSD.

@r1c4ard06

PC-BSD 8.x package manager is available in ports and requires KDE/QT, the PC-BSD 9.x package manager would be using only QT.

You can try ports-mgmt/bxpkg But note, that it's in early stage of development (it's using GTK, but who cares qt or gtk, you will use them bough eventually)

Forget about GUIs, just use the standard tools.

ports-mgmt/kpackagekit might be an option...
