IMHO the FreeBSD installer is reasonably easy and AFAIK the PC-BSD one allows to install FreeBSD.

Is already easy and i don't think that should be easier.
I don't think that anyone wants an ubuntu-freebsd.
One of the power of freebsd (and gentoo too witch is based on bsd) is that is minimal.
You configure everything as you like it, you set the wm of your choise and there is no default wm.
For example i don't like kde or gnome. I would never try an os with gnome as default desktop environment! (except solaris)
You set the tools/programs you need and don't comes with 50 default programs and 3000 dependencies
In fact i love that is a little hard and minimal
If everything was autoconfigured, this was not be funny
Hard don't means waste of time.
Means do that i want as i want :) and of course i understand my system better

The PC-BSD people have already created it. Why duplicate the effort?
