I'm currently install xorgs and though I'll set gnome2 as desktop manager preferred. So what can I do in order to get out most after gnome installation and get full experience about it as well? I mean after "make install clean" in the gnome2 port directory, I dont really interested about compiz, my laptop resources are not huge enough to use full compiz effects.. What I want actually is a window manager (gnome, of course) really functional and reliable graphical env. ;)

The GNOME FAQ for FreeBSD (http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/docs/faq2.html) should be a good place to start.

Compiz has absolutely nothing to do with Gnome.

Gnome is a Desktop Environment that uses MetaCity as it's window manager.
