Ability to edit posts

It is very annoying that one cannot edit one's posts until 10 days have elapsed from when one joined.

I see the reason bandied about as "this prevents spam", but seriously, allowing a brand new poster to post multiple new posts must surely be worse than allowing previous posts to be edited.

Maybe I'm missing something?

i just did a quick reply and i can't edit it. i joined a long time ago.
may be there is a minimum number of posts you have to make before you can edit?
