Hi,

i got this error when i go to Desktop ->Right Click -> Change background:

it gives me the following error:
Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager.

My WM is XFCE4

If you have a "change background" option when right clicking on the Desktop, you are probably not using xfdesktop (the desktop manager for xfce4). Instead, I suspect you are using nautilus, from gnome. Gnome does not really like it when you change it's configuration options when it's not running.

I think the real question is why you are using nautilus instead of xfdesktop? Is this intentional?
